Shura of Capricorn

💀 Specter of Hades — Capricorn

Shura of Capricorn is the man of absolute loyalty — and it is precisely this that makes his story one of the most tragic in Saint Seiya. In his first life as a Gold Saint, Shura was a warrior of honor whose fidelity to the Grand Pope of the Sanctuary was unwavering. This fidelity led him to obey criminal orders issued by the usurper Saga, attempting to kill innocents in the name of a cause that was a fraud. His crime is not darkness — it is virtue misdirected.

His technique, Excalibur, is in his image: absolute, without reserve, without turning back. When Shura cuts, he gives everything. When he surrenders his remaining energy to Shiryu so that the Dragon Saint can continue fighting, he does what few defeated opponents do — he chooses nobility over resentment. This gesture, in all its simplicity, says everything about what Shura could have been if loyalty had not been his only compass.

His reincarnation as a Specter of Hades is a cruel irony: the man of fidelity returns in a uniform symbolizing the negation of everything he believed in. Yet even in the Underworld, Shura cannot quite lose what he fundamentally is. In the final confrontation, when the former Gold Saints reincarnated as Specters choose Athena's side one last time, Shura is among those who plunge into the light without hesitation. His final redemption is in keeping with his life: entire, without calculation, without condition.

Abilities & Techniques

Excalibur
Shura concentrates all his cosmo energy into his arms, transforming his hands into blades of absolute sharpness. Excalibur can cut through anything — divine armor, rock, cosmo itself. It is a one-use technique in each fight: it demands everything Shura has to give, and what it severs does not reconstitute.
Extraordinary physical power and cosmo
Recognized in his first life as one of the physically most powerful Gold Saints, Shura retains under Hades's surplice a formidable cosmo density. His mastery of close combat is unmatched among the reincarnated former Saints.

Evolution

01 —The Grand Pope's guardian — loyal to the point of crime — In his life as a Gold Saint, Shura was a man of absolute loyalty. It is this loyalty that led him to kill the Lion Saint by mistake — on orders from the usurper Saga — and to nearly eliminate Seiya. His greatness and his tragedy lie in this paradox: a good man, betrayed by his own virtue, loyalty.
02 —The duel against Shiryu — the transmission of Excalibur — The confrontation between Shura and Shiryu is one of the most wrenching moments of the twelve houses saga. Defeated, Shura chooses to offer Shiryu his remaining energy and the essence of his Excalibur before dying, recognizing in him a noble spirit worthy of receiving this gift. A gesture that transcends the boundary between adversaries.
03 —Return as Specter — loyalty rediscovered — His reincarnation as a Specter of Hades is particularly painful for Shura: the man who devoted his life to loyalty finds himself in the service of a god that denies everything he was. But even under the infernal surplice, his fundamental integrity resurfaces in the final battle, when he and his fellow former Gold Saints choose to fight for Athena one last time.

Characteristics
Loyalty as virtue and as tragedy. Shura is the character who best illustrates the fact that the noblest human qualities can lead to the worst consequences when misdirected. His absolute fidelity to the Grand Pope made him complicit in crimes he would never have committed on his own.
A warrior of honor until his last breath — and even beyond. The scene of transmitting Excalibur to Shiryu is emblematic of the character: even in defeat and death, Shura chooses greatness. His reincarnation as a Specter cannot erase what he fundamentally is.
