The ultimate war
Hades, ruler of the Underworld, waited 243 years to launch his revenge against Athena. He reincarnates into the body of a young boy — Andromeda Shun — and mobilizes his 108 Specters: the souls of history's darkest warriors, clad in Surplice armor.
Worse still: the resurrected Gold Saints — Saga, Shura, Camus — march with the armies of the Underworld, seemingly having turned against Athena. But their true objective is something else entirely...
This final chapter is divided into four distinct arcs, each released as OVA between 2002 and 2008, forming the ultimate conclusion to Masami Kurumada's original saga.
The four chapters
The 108 Specters attack Athena's Sanctuary. The resurrected Gold Saints — Saga, Shura, Camus — appear to have betrayed her, but their true mission is revealed in a devastating sacrifice.
The Bronze Saints descend into the Underworld to save Athena. Journey through three cosmic prisons — Judecca, Cocytus, Tartarus — facing the most fearsome specters.
The battles in the depths of the Underworld intensify. An essential transition chapter that prepares the final assault on Hades' domain and the confrontation with his divine guardians.
The Elysian Fields — the final confrontation. Seiya faces Hades himself in a battle that transcends human and divine limits. The ultimate conclusion to the original saga.
Judges of the Underworld
Three relentless judges rule the Underworld alongside Hades: Rhadamanthys of the Wyvern, Minos of the Griffon and Aiacos of the Garuda. Each commands a portion of the 108 Specters and wields near-divine power — the same power as a Gold Saint.
Alongside the judges watch the twin gods Hypnos and Thanatos, brothers of Hades and absolute guardians of the realm of the dead. Their cosmos transcends that of the Saints — facing one of them requires going beyond the 8th sense.
