What is a Cloth?
The Cloths (クロス, Kurosu) are the mystical armors worn by the Saints of Saint Seiya. Forged by the god Hephaestus from the blood of the stars, they are linked to the constellations of the sky and can only be activated by a warrior whose Cosmos is sufficiently developed.
When a Cloth is severely damaged, it can be repaired by the blood of its wearer or a compatible Saint — a powerful symbol of the union between the warrior and his armor. Ikki's Phoenix Cloth is unique: it regenerates on its own.
Cloths initially appear as an object statue (a sphere, a chest) that automatically assembles on the warrior's body when his Cosmos ignites. They cover vital areas and adapt to the wearer's morphology.
Types of Cloth
The least powerful but most numerous armors. Linked to secondary and tertiary constellations. Bronze Saints wear them, but their Cosmos can transcend them far beyond their theoretical rank.
Intermediate armors whose resistance and power clearly surpass Bronze. Linked to stars of magnitude 2 to 3.
The twelve zodiacal armors — the most powerful in the order of Saints. Forged with the highest concentration of stellar Cosmos. They glow even without a wearer.
The armors of the 108 Specters of Hades. Designed from darkness and death, they reflect the corresponding malevolent constellation.
The armors of the gods themselves — Athena, Hades, Poseidon. Forged of pure divine power, their mere presence terrifies even Gold Saints.
Legendary Cloths
The Phoenix Cloth
The only Bronze armor to regenerate automatically, Ikki's Phoenix Cloth embodies his invincible nature. Even destroyed, it is reborn — exactly like its wearer.
The Sagittarius Cloth
The most mysterious of the Gold Cloths, it has guided Bronze Saints since the death of its wearer Aiolos. Its golden arrows reach the speed of light and can even wound gods.
The Kamui — Divine Cloths
Beyond the Gold Cloths, the armors of the gods — called Kamui — are forged directly from the divine essence. Hades wears the Hell Surplice, Poseidon his sea armor. Their power surpasses anything the Saints can produce.
