The Lost Canvas Ep.26 — Be Yourself
The final episode of The Lost Canvas. Tenma and Alone/Hades clash at the very heart of the Lost Canvas — the monumental painting that was meant to cover the entire world. It is here, in this place that embodies Alone's distorted dream, that the 18th-century Holy War finds its resolution.
The title — 'Be Yourself' — is Tenma's call to Alone's soul buried beneath the divine possession. Through every blow, through every pain, through everything, Tenma is not fighting Hades — he is looking for his friend. And in the final moments, something responds. A flash, a second, a recognition in Alone's eyes before everything gives way.
The Lost Canvas closes on an ending at once tragic and serene — worthy of the series' ambition. The Holy War is over. The price paid is immense. But the sacrifice will not have been in vain, and somewhere in the 18th century, Tenma, Alone and Sasha will have had, for one moment, their reunion.
