The Lost Canvas Ep.22 — The Path of Justice

The gates of the Lost Canvas draw near. The surviving Saints have paid a considerable tribute to get this far, and Tenma carries the weight of every one of those sacrifices. The path of justice is not the path of vengeance or glory — it is the hardest path, the one demanding to do what is right even when it is painful.

For Tenma, doing what is right means facing Alone. Not destroying him — facing him in the hope of finding still, somewhere in that divine armor, the friend he once knew. This resolution, at once naive and profoundly courageous, is what distinguishes him from every other warrior.

The episode builds the imminence of the climax with palpable tension. One senses the series approaching its end, that the coming battles will be decisive, that certain things can no longer be avoided. The path of justice always leads toward the edge of a precipice.
