The Lost Canvas Ep.20 — The Prison of Dreams

Hypnos, the god of sleep and twin brother of Thanatos, deploys his most fearsome power: the prison of dreams. The Saints are plunged into illusions so perfect they cannot distinguish the real from the false. In this world of dreams, their bodies freeze while their minds wander through comfortable — and deadly — alternative realities.

The danger is insidious: no one truly wants to wake up. The prison of dreams offers each prisoner exactly what they have always longed for — peace, victory, beloved ones still alive. To accept this illusion is to die gently without ever realizing it.

This is one of the series' most oneiric and visually inventive episodes. Hypnos is an adversary of rare sophistication — he does not fight with violence, but with the perverse gentleness of what the Saints desire most.
