Hades is the God of the Underworld, the supreme antagonist of Saint Seiya and the most powerful threat Athena's knights have ever faced. Reincarnating in the body of the gentle and peaceful Shun, Hades establishes his presence in the world of the living with chilling subtlety before unleashing his total war against Athena. He commands the Specters — dead warriors clad in Surplices — and even has the ability to call back deceased Gold Saints to his service.

What makes Hades uniquely fascinating is the tragic duality of his existence: he is simultaneously the most absolute evil in the series and the dearest friend of the knights, since he occupies Shun's body. Every attack directed at Hades is a wound inflicted on Shun, and this unbearable emotional tension pushes the knights to the very limits of their strength, all the way to the final confrontation in the Elysian Fields — the last act of a cosmic epic that will have cost everything.

Soul Domination
Hades rules over the realm of the dead and can summon back the souls of fallen warriors, transforming them into Specters in his service to wage war against Athena.
Cosmo of Darkness
His Cosmo power is of a nature opposite to Athena's — absolute darkness that can annihilate light, shatter divine armor, and corrupt spirits.
Divine Reincarnation
Hades has the ability to reincarnate into a mortal's body to act in the world of the living, possessing Shun to trigger his war against the knights.

Evolution

01 —Reincarnation into Shun — One of the most disturbing moments in the series: Hades chooses Shun's body — the gentlest of the knights — as the vessel for his divine soul, turning a friend into an enemy.
02 —War of the Underworld — Hades launches an offensive of unprecedented scale, mobilizing the entirety of the Specters and even pushing deceased Gold Saints to join his ranks.
03 —Confrontation at Elysion — The final battle in the Elysian Fields is the absolute climax of Saint Seiya: Seiya and his friends face Hades in his own domain, fighting to bring Athena back from the depths of death.
