Soul of Gold Ep.8 — Balder, the Man Chosen by the Gods
Among the seven God Warriors, Balder occupies a special place. His legend, inspired by the Norse god of light and beauty, grants him near-invulnerability — attacks that would topple any other opponent slide off him like water on stone. The episode takes the time to build this character, to show why he is feared even by his own allies.
The connection between Balder and Yggdrasil is different from that of the other God Warriors. He was not simply chosen or equipped by Andreas: he seems to have a direct connection with the primordial energy of the World Tree, as if Yggdrasil had granted him its favor autonomously. This particularity makes him an adversary that brute force alone cannot reach.
For the Gold Saints, this is a fundamental problem: their usual approach — burn more Cosmos, hit harder — doesn't work against someone who absorbs or deflects that energy. They will need to think differently. And in Norse mythology, Balder has a weakness — but to find it, one must first seek it.
