Shiryu of the Dragon

🔶 Bronze Knight — Dragon

Shiryu is not a warrior who shouts his strength — he carries it within him like a rock carries the weight of centuries. Born in Japan but trained in the eternal mists of the Five Peaks of Rozan, in China, he grew up under the severe and benevolent teaching of Dohko, a former Gold Knight of Libra who became the millennial guardian of the sacred mountain. From those years of asceticism in the cold and silence, Shiryu drew something that few fighters possess: the ability to decide, in the instant of battle, how far he is willing to go.

What distinguishes Shiryu from his fellow fighters is his relationship with sacrifice. Where Seiya charges headlong and Hyoga calculates the optimal distance, Shiryu accepts losing — his sight, his armor, sometimes his life — to open a breach in the opponent's defense. This philosophy is not resignation: it is a form of love for those he protects, an equation in which his own integrity weighs less than the necessary victory. Every time he closes his eyes for the last time in battle, you think he is defeated — and that is precisely when he strikes.

Behind the austere warrior hides a man whose heart beats to the rhythm of Rozan. Shunrei, the young woman raised by Dohko, is his silent light, the one he returns to between storms. This duality — monk warrior by day, devoted man in the intimacy of the mountain — gives Shiryu a human depth that the Dragon Armor cannot contain.

Abilities & Techniques

Dragon's Wisdom
Trained by the old master Dohko, one of the twelve surviving Gold Knights, Shiryu embodies a rare inner discipline. His strength never springs from haste — every blow is measured, every sacrifice consented to in full awareness.
Voluntary sacrifice
Shiryu has lost his sight twice in battle, deliberately choosing this sacrifice to triumph. Where others would retreat, he advances with eyes closed, guided by his Cosmos alone.
Devastating power
The Rozan Shō Ryū Ha concentrates in a single fist the power of a dragon bursting from the peaks. At full intensity, the shockwave can split rock and hurl an opponent dozens of meters.
Cosmos-regenerated Armor
The Dragon Armor, forged in sky metal, welds and repairs itself through battles, testament to the absolute resilience of the one who wears it.

Evolution

01 —The Galactic Tournament — Shiryu enters the arena with the discretion of a monk and the precision of a surgeon. His fight against Seiya — which ends in a draw after both warriors fatally wound each other — immediately establishes his place among the Bronze elite.
02 —The sacrifice of sight — Against the Gold Knight Dohko — his own master — Shiryu understands that victory sometimes requires giving up everything. He loses his sight to shatter the enemy armor, and this gesture defines his character: wisdom is not prudence, it is the courage of the ultimate gift.
03 —The Sanctuary arc — On the steps of the Virgin's temple, Shiryu faces opponents who exceed his raw power. There he forges the Rozan Hyaku Ryū Ha, the ultimate technique passed on by Dohko, and proves that a master's legacy is not received — it is earned.
04 —Shunrei and the return to Rozan — Between wars, Shiryu always returns to the Peaks of Rozan, to Shunrei, a young woman raised by Dohko who holds a silent but central place in his life. This human bond is his anchor — and paradoxically, his greatest strength.
