Dohko of Libra
♎ Gold Knight — LibraTwo hundred and sixty-one years. That is what Dohko carries on his seemingly fragile old shoulders, seated in the misty peaks of Rozan in China. He is the only being in the entire series whose age itself is a form of cosmic power — a longevity granted by Athena so he could watch, century after century, over a seal upon which the balance of the world depends. While human generations rise, struggle, and die in succession, Dohko watches, waits, and remembers.
His bond with his disciple Shiryu is one of the most beautiful in Saint Seiya. In this transmission from old sage to young dragon, two hundred and sixty years of wisdom pass from hand to hand — the Dragon's techniques, certainly, but above all a worldview: that true strength does not shout, does not flaunt itself, that it waits patiently in the depths like water beneath rock. When Shiryu sacrifices his eyes and his blood to win, it is his master's philosophy he embodies.
And when Dohko finally releases the Cosmos he had compressed for two and a half centuries to maintain the appearance of an old man, the revelation is striking. Behind this old man retired from the world hid the full power of a Gold Knight, preserved intact through the ages. The Rozan Hyaku Ryu Ha is not the technique of one man — it is the distillation of two centuries of silent perfection.
