Antagonist — Season 1 · Omega

Mars is the main antagonist of Saint Seiya Omega's first season and the embodiment of the war god Ares in the modern world. Far more than a simple military adversary, he represents the force opposed to Athena: where the goddess embodies peace and Light, Mars is the vector of the Darkness seeking to smother the world.

What makes Mars particularly complex as an antagonist is the revelation of his link with Kōga: he is his biological father. This information radically transforms the dynamic of their confrontation — Kōga is no longer simply fighting an enemy, he is fighting a part of himself. This is also why he is the only one to have inherited Mars' Darkness Cosmos without being destroyed by it.

His strategy goes beyond military conquest. By progressively infecting Kōga's Cosmos, Mars attempts to corrupt Athena's champion from within — a form of victory through contamination rather than the sword. It is a tactic that only Kōga's extraordinary willpower manages to counter.

Abilities & Techniques

Darkness Cosmos

Mars wields the Darkness Cosmos at its purest level — a corrupting force that directly opposes the Light Cosmos of Athena's Saints.

Getsuryu Zan

His signature attack — a divine Darkness Cosmos lance capable of cleaving any Cloth and annihilating a Bronze Cosmos.

God of War

As the god of war, Mars possesses divine-level resistance and power surpassing anything the Bronze Saints have faced. Only concentrated Light Cosmos can resist him.

Manipulation

Mars does not fight with force alone. His ability to corrupt individuals through Darkness — by infecting their Cosmos — is one of his most formidable weapons.

Evolution

01 —Awakening and invasion of the Sanctuary — Mars appears with an army of Darkness Saints and directly attacks Athena's Sanctuary. His stated goal: plunge the world into Darkness to become its absolute master.

02 —Kōga's corruption — Mars deliberately exposes Kōga to the Darkness Cosmos. His strategy: corrupt Athena's champion from within, or force him to serve his designs.

03 —The family twist — Central revelation of Season 1: Mars is Kōga's biological father. This reversal redefines the entire dynamic of their confrontation and gives Kōga an even more complex reason to fight him.

04 —The final battle — The decisive clash between Kōga and Mars sees the new Pegasus Saint integrate the Darkness inherited from his father into his own Cosmos — and turn it against him.
