Leo

The Nemean Lion is a creature of both divine and monstrous origin. Son of the dog Orthrus and Echidna — the mother of monsters — or according to other versions sent directly by Zeus or Selene from the Moon, this lion terrorized the region of Nemea in the Argolid, devouring men and livestock with no weapon able to wound it. Its hide was impenetrable to any blade or projectile.

Some texts make it the brother of the Sphinx — the other monstrous guardian who posed lethal riddles to travelers. Two creatures born of primordial chaos, one invincible in combat, the other in intellect — two opposing faces of the threat that heroes must overcome.

Killing the Nemean Lion is the first of the twelve labors imposed on Heracles by King Eurystheus. But how do you kill an invulnerable creature? The hero first tries to pierce it with arrows — they bounce off the hide like metal. He tries his sword — useless. Finally, Heracles blocks one of the two entrances to the lion's cave, plunges inside, and strangles it with his bare hands.

But then the problem arises: how to skin an animal whose hide resists everything? The solution is elegant: Heracles uses the lion's own claws to flay it. He then dons this indestructible hide as a natural armor — the Nemean lion becomes his most famous protection, symbol of brute strength mastered by intelligence.

Zeus, full of admiration, places the lion among the stars. The Leo constellation is one of the most recognizable in the sky: its main asterism, the Sickle, traces the lion's head and mane with remarkable clarity.

The constellation's principal star is Regulus — "the little king" in Latin, also called Cor Leonis, "the heart of the Lion." A blue-white giant three hundred times more luminous than the Sun, it is one of the flattest stars ever observed: its rotation is so rapid that it flattens considerably at the poles.

Regulus is one of the four royal stars of Antiquity — along with Aldebaran, Antares, and Fomalhaut — which delimited the four directions of the sky and were venerated by entire civilizations. For the Babylonians, Regulus marked the summer solstice and represented the absolute heavenly king.

At the rear of the constellation, Denebola ("the lion's tail" in Arabic) marks the animal's extremity. The constellation also harbors several bright galaxies: M65, M66 — twin spirals — and M96, forming the Leo Group, observable through binoculars.

Aiolia of Leo is the knight who best embodies the raw energy and royal nobility of the Nemean Lion. His signature technique, Lightning Plasma, summons lightning — a power recalling Zeus himself, master of thunder, and the solar might of Regulus, the hottest and most luminous star of the constellation.

The mythological parallel is striking: the Nemean Lion was invincible to ordinary weapons — only Heracles' bare hands could subdue it. Aiolia is a fighter of colossal brute power, whose electric attacks exceed what ordinary armor can withstand. He is the definition of a force that can neither be bypassed nor ignored.

The royal dimension is equally central: Regulus means "the little king," and Aiolia is presented as one of the most loyal Gold Saints, a warrior who never betrays his convictions — the nobility of the lion, the royal animal par excellence in all human traditions. His pain at bearing the name of his brother Aioros, wrongly accused of treason, is the secret wound of the proud lion who cannot roar his truth.
