Kyoko's Fate

The resolution of Kyoko's possession draws near. The conditions for freeing her soul are cruel — as in all of Saint Seiya's divine mythology, freedom comes at a cost proportional to its value. Kyoko, who has resisted Eris from within for entire volumes, is exhausted but whole in her values.

The moment when the two sisters truly find each other again — without Eris' presence between them, even fleetingly — is one of the most emotionally charged in the entire series. Chimaki Kusakabe builds this reunion with an economy of means that makes every panel precious. The question that remains suspended: will this regained freedom be permanent, or temporary?
