The Golden Apple

The Golden Apple — the legendary artefact tied to Eris, symbol of discord among the gods — lies at the heart of this arc. Its corruption is insidious: it does not destroy directly but sows distrust, jealousy and division, turning allies against one another. The Saintia discover that Eris' scheme is not to overpower them but to make them implode from within.

Shoko confronts for the first time the true extent of Kyoko's possession. Her sister is still there, somewhere, but Eris' consciousness increasingly fills the space. The moments when Kyoko briefly regains control — and recognises Shoko through painful clarity — are among the most poignant scenes in the series.
