Ares

Ares — the god of War — takes the stage as the first direct divine adversary. His presence at the Sanctuary is no courtesy call: he comes to test the worth of the Gold Saints, to assess whether these mortals deserve to continue existing as guardians of Athena. For Ares, strength is the only valid philosophy — and he intends to demonstrate that his surpasses anything the Saints can oppose.

Aiolia confronts Ares in a battle reminiscent of his fights against the Titans, but with an added dimension: a Titan is a blind primordial force, but a god has will, intentions, an ego. To fight Ares is to fight someone who fundamentally despises you. Shura of Capricorn intervenes, and their coordination reveals the maturity these two warriors have gained since Episode G.
