The Twelve Houses from Within

This volume offers the most explicit view of the parallel between the two narratives. While the iconic battles of the Twelve Houses unfold — Seiya against Aiolia, Shiryu against Shura — the Saintia face their own trials backstage in the Sanctuary. We see the Gold Saints from a radically different angle: not as adversaries to be defeated but as guardians whose faith in their positions is itself a kind of trap.

Shoko and Mii advance through areas of the Sanctuary that the Bronze Saints have never crossed. Their path reveals secret spaces, passages known only to the Saintia, a geography of the Sanctuary more complex than what the original series had shown. These discoveries are also metaphors: there are always hidden spaces within an institution one believes one knows.
